There are friendly aliens on this planet; they're little red x's, and they look like starfish. Unlike random lifeforms, they will never become hostile to you (unless you start shooting, of course). The whole planet feels a little like a light parody of today's society: the aliens realize their technology is unsustainable over the long term, and have decided their only salvation is to get bailed out by trading for technology from aliens. They also ask you about the space probe they sent out a while ago, and say their only hope is to find exploitable resources on other worlds.

There is a cross-shaped cluster of light purple buildings where you can trade tech goods for luxury goods.

And no, they don't carry any good toys, so keep your genocidal tendencies to yourself, unless you enjoy committing slaughter for a fairly small amount of biodata.

"Sleek steel and glass buildings" on this planet allow you to exchange tech goods for luxury goods - apparently the starfish are quite adept at making trinkets.

If you interact with *every single one* of the factories and fix them with green messages about reducing emissions(may take many tries), then the scan of the planet will change to indicate that the runaway greenhouse effect will eventually halt.
